Q fever is an illness that is caused due to an infection with the Coxiella burnetii, which is a bacterium that is known to affect humans as well as animals. This class of bacteria is rare but might be seen in common domesticated animals. Q fever infection is caused due to the inhalation of impure and infected particles in the atmosphere. It may be even caused due to exposure to the milk, vaginal mucus, urine, feces, or semen of the infected animals. The cure for the acute Q fever is initiated by the use of appropriate antibiotics. This form of treatment is very effectual but should only b taken under the advice of a doctor. The treatment for Q fever during pregnancy is particularly complicated because the drugs doxycycline and ciprofloxacin, which are used to cure Q fever, are contraindicated during pregnancy.
