An inspirational figure, Akram captained Pakistan to great heights for a long period. He, along with Waqar Younis, formed a lethal bowling combination for the Pakistanis.
‘Sultan of Swing’ was the sobriquet bestowed on him for his ability to deceptively swing the cricket ball. He had most of the game’s great batters in trouble with his bowling.
